Bush urges Congress to pass wiretap bill

Lawmakers hustle to act before recess

WASHINGTON — Congress is rushing to expand the military’s authority to wiretap phone calls and e-mails on US soil. The Bush administration, warning that terrorists may soon attack again, is pressuring lawmakers to approve the legislation before they leave town this weekend for their annual August vacations.

The proposal, the details of which remain murky, had received little public discussion before this week and has not undergone the normal committee review process. It would apparently give the National Security Agency legal approval to resume one type of the warrantless wiretapping that President Bush authorized after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.

Doesn’t history remind us that Stalin and Hitler built excuses to spy on their own people to control anyone who opposed their political agendas.  What will your congressman do?  Do you have representation?  Are our ‘inalienable rights’  a terrorist conspiracy?  Our Founding Fathers would be in Guantanamo for fighting for ‘inalienable rights’ as Americans!

Bush, the reincarnation of Hitler,  does this all because his imaginary God has spoken to him and given him the Armageddon Agenda.

The Christian March Against America

Posted by nytexan on July 13, 2007

After the events yesterday in the Senate, with the disgraceful and shameful behavior of Christians shouting at Rajan Zed, I have decided to fight back. For years I have sat back and complained to friend and family about the rude, obnoxious and hateful behavior of Christians in this country. Well, I’ve had enough.

These so called Christians who espouse love, tolerance, charity and family values are far from their chamber of commerce advertisements. With their rise in the 1980’s with Jerry Falwell (god rest his miserable soul) and Pat Robertson, we sat back and allowed them to express themselves, because after all it is their first amendment right. However, they took that privilege and became an intolerant, hateful and out of control beast.

I remember in my twenties my mother brow beating me (yes even now in my late 40’s she just can give me that famous stare and I shut up), for being vocal towards the bible thumping crowd. They have their right to speak, protest and be recognized she would tell me; and I listened to her. As the years went on I watched as these good Christians, these soldiers of God torch abortion clinics, killed doctors and threatened anyone who didn’t follow their twisted beliefs.

As time went on, I saw them demand prayer in school. The 10 Commandments put on display in state building, like it was zoo exhibit. I watched as they spewed their hate towards people with HIV/Aids, towards gay, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender. I watched as they raised their children to be filled with the same level of intolerance and hate towards anyone that didn’t fit into their Christian box. And, I watched yesterday as a man of the cloth stood on the Senate floor quietly waiting for order to be restored, so he could say his prayer.

We did this. Yes we; me, you and every American in this country. We sat back and let Christians take over our schools, our government, and our public buildings and even kill people. Why did we let this happen; because we believed in one very basic American principle, freedom of speech, freedom of expression? However, they seem to have violated this privilege. So like children, these Christians need to be grounded.

Their respect or lack thereof for anyone who is not a Christian is far from the teachings of Jesus. Actually you have to wonder what they are being taught at all those bible camps and study groups. Their understanding of science, history, and the world around them is skewed by their warped idea of God. Their God.

For all their bible thumping and invoking the name of God every time they open their mouths, what have they contributed to America? Do they adopt the children that they “saved” from abortion clinics? Maybe some have but if it was their practice it would be in the news. They love publicity.

They tried the family values, monogamy thing but that didn’t work since they keep getting busted for adultery, pornography and prostitution. They tried to elect a decent and honest Christian president but that hasn’t work to well. They have not taught us anything of value, especially anything to do with morality. They haven’t added anything positive to the fabric of this country. What they have added is hate, intolerance, contempt and divisiveness.

It’s time that we stand up for the principles that make us all Americans. It is not acceptable that one religion to gain control over the entire country. It is not acceptable that the government involves itself with any religion. It is not acceptable that Christians are allowed to infiltrate every aspect of our lives. And it is truly not acceptable that we allow them to continue.

More than five hundred Sudanese refugees have fled to Israel in the last two months to escape genocide in Darfur. Now Israel is threatening to deport them.

No refugee status

Sigal Rosen, from the hotline for migrant workers in Tel Aviv, said: “The government started arresting the Sudanese under the infiltration law – a law made in emergency times; a law under which there was no possibility to release them for a very long period of detention.

To Israel, Sudan is an ‘enemy state’, and the Sudanese, ‘enemy nationals’.

“They aren’t getting refugee status and there are deportation orders hanging over the heads of all of them.

Identity crisis

Eytan Schwartz, spokesperson for the Committee for Advancement of Refugees of Darfur (Card), said that Israel has a moral obligation to take the Sudanese in.

“We are a country founded by refugees, we are a people who were persecuted for thousands of years. We of all people should know what it’s like to be people of a nation that nobody wants to take in.

“That’s why we have a moral, historical obligation to take them in, even if they’re from an enemy country.”

But the Israeli government has said the situation is now at a crisis point and closing the border or deporting them back to Egypt may be the only solution.

Avishai Braverman, a Knesset member, said: “People heard that Israel may be a haven … [But] we are such a small country, we cannot do that. We have our own problems with our own immigrants.

“You can do certain things, but it’s not in our capacity to solve the problem of all the Sudanese … to say that we can absorb hundreds of thousands when we cannot even take care of our own, that’s a nice world but its unrealistic and unfair.”

To many, those Sudanese seeking refuge in Israel are viewed as a threat to the Jewish identity.

“Israel has an identity challenge,” Schwartz said. “We are a Jewish democracy and this is an example, a perfect example, of the negotiation of these two identities.

“How can you be a democracy with human rights, with values of accepting people from all nations, but you still want to maintain your Jewish identity? … That means always maintaining a Jewish majority.”

With every new arrival, Israel’s dilemma deepens. At the same time, for the Sudanese who make the journey with so much hope, life in Israel now holds an uncertain future.

Where will they go? Why can’t responsible countries make their home safe so they don’t have to go anywhere? Why is all this allowed to happen, Oil is not at stake? SHAME on the world!

Bush Administration Last Days – Are We Scared Yet?

Posted by bosskitty on July 1, 2007

Bush administration wants us to be scared of:

  • AlQaeda,
  • Other un-named terrorists,
  • Gays,
  • anyone who is not a radical Christian, anyone who is not with his agenda,

  • Inclusive health care
  • People who think

This administration wants his population to be white or act white, buy in to the Armageddon concept to justify:

  • atrocities against other cultures (anything outside of his world is PAGAN)
  • completely destroy other civilizations (because they are PAGAN)
  • grab oil resources wherever we can (so his greasy buddies can profit)
  • allow genocide to grow exponentially long enough so that if we DO step up to responsibility thousands or millions have already died,

End Time Christian’s wars against PAGANS are equal to Islam’s war against INFIDELS. Euphemisms abound to cloak atrocities against other populations to justify world domination. The Political Islamists have used terror against innocent Americans, OK, so have Political Christians:

    1. First of all crimes against Americans are results of economic suppression and interference in local politics with extortion and bribery.
    2. American businesses use underhanded tactics to secure advantageous pricing and cheap labor from disadvantaged and desperate.
    3. Americans or their Proxy Mercenary Armies have injured, threatened or killed opposition to their agendas throughout history – don’t get me started on the American Indians.

Pagan can be defined broadly:

Wikipedia – the faith traditions outside the Abrahamic monotheistic group of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. This includes the Dharmic religions (such as Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism), Native American religions and mythologies and Shinto as well as non-Abrahamic ethnic religions in general. More narrow definitions will not include any of the world religions and restrict the term to local or rural currents not organized as civil religions.

Both “Pagan” and “heathen” have historically been used as a pejorative by adherents of monotheistic religions (such as Judaism, Christianity and Islam) to indicate a disbeliever in their religion.

BAGHDAD (AP) – Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki condemned a U.S. raid Saturday in Baghdad‘s Shiite Sadr City slum – a politically sensitive district for him – in which American troops searching for Iranian-linked militants sparked a firefight that left 26 Iraqis dead.

“What causes the documented high level of civilian casualties — 3,000 – 3,400 [October 7, 2001 thru March 2002] civilian deaths — in the U.S. air war upon Afghanistan? The explanation is the apparent willingness of U.S. military strategists to fire missiles into and drop bombs upon, heavily populated areas of Afghanistan.”

The percentage of innocent to combatant casualties is unacceptable.  These are not BATTLEFIELDS they are people’s HOMES!

The hateful mantra “let God sort ’em out” should held prosecutable!  Such a FINE example of American Values we are spreading throughout the tortured world.  Shove this example of Democracy down their throat with bullets!  Call it Christian compassion? Pakistan – Transexual Couple Seek Justice

Posted by bosskitty on June 29, 2007

Bail for Pakistan ‘same-sex’ pair

Shumail Raj

Doctors say Raj is still a woman, despite sex change operations

Pakistan’s Supreme Court has ordered that a couple jailed for perjury in a row over the husband’s sex should be released on bail, their lawyers say. The couple say they are man and wife, but the Lahore high court ruled last month that the husband was, in fact, a woman, despite sex-change surgery.
Shumail Raj, 31, had sex-change surgery to become a man and then married Shahzina Tariq, 24, a cousin.

The judgement of the high court has been suspended and the Supreme Court has ordered their release

Lawyer Babar Awan

She was aware of his condition but says she needed his help to avoid being forced into wedlock with someone else.

The couple originally sought the protection of the courts but were arrested last month after the bride’s family questioned whether Raj was a man.

Judges in Lahore jailed the couple for three years and fined them 10,000 Pakistani rupees ($165).

They found that the couple had lied about Raj’s sexual status and said their marriage was un-Islamic because it was same-sex.

Ms Tariq’s family wants to annul the wedding on the grounds that it is against Islam for two women to marry.

But the couple argue that they married to protect the bride from being sold into marriage to pay off her uncle’s gambling debts.

Ms Tariq says they are not homosexuals and they married because they are in love.

Shumail Raj (left) and Shahzina Tariq appealed to the president

It takes more balls to be gay or transexual in any Islamic country than it does to pack a car full of bombs and run to the market …

Watch closely how Musharraf handles this appeal.

Egypt forbids female circumcision   By Magdi Abdelhadi  BBC Arab Affairs Analyst

Egypt has announced that it is imposing a complete ban on female circumcision, also known as genital mutilation.

the death of a 12-year-old girl in Upper Egypt a few days ago triggered an angry barrage of appeals from human rights groups to both the government and the medical profession to act swiftly and stamp out the practice. The doctor who carried out the operation has been arrested.

Egypt’s first lady, Susanne Mubarak, has spoken out strongly against female circumcision, saying that it is a flagrant example of continued physical and psychological violence against children which must stop.

The Grand Mufti and the head of the Coptic Church said female circumcision had no basis either in the Koran or in the Bible.

Recent studies have shown that some 90% of Egyptian women have been circumcised.

The practice is common among Muslim as well as Christian families in Egypt and other African countries, but is rare in the Arab world.

It is believed to be part of an ancient Egyptian rite of passage and is more common in rural areas.

Conservative families believe that circumcision is a way of protecting the girls’ chastity.

Gospels of the Demented are being imposed on people everywhere.

Anything is justified in the name of religion.

Freedom of religion is the freedom to worship according to one’s own heart – NOT the freedom to impose YOUR rules, rites or beliefs onto the unwilling.
Religions have obscure interpretations that can be grabbed to justify any atrocity.

Case in point:  The Right To Life seems to be justifiable to unborn American children, but not the child victims of American warcraft.  How can we justify bombing a whole village in an effort to kill ONE or a DOZEN of the opposition. Collateral damage is NOT acceptable under any justification.

I am disgusted and sick to my stomach with the RIGHTEOUS of any religion bellowing from both sides of their mouth about “What God Wants”!  The arrogance of the HUMAN RACE to actually base it’s knowledge of what God wants on thousand year old texts or an army of self-serving blow hards behind pulpits.

Unrestrained Execuitive Supremancy Horror Flick

Pushing the Envelope on Presidential Power

By Barton Gellman and Jo Becker
Washington Post Staff Writers
Monday, June 25, 2007

Shortly after the first accused terrorists reached the U.S. naval prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, on Jan. 11, 2002, a delegation from CIA headquarters arrived in the Situation Room. The agency presented a delicate problem to White House counsel Alberto R. Gonzales, a man with next to no experience on the subject. Vice President Cheney’s lawyer, who had a great deal of experience, sat nearby.

The meeting marked “the first time that the issue of interrogations comes up” among top-ranking White House officials, recalled John C. Yoo, who represented the Justice Department. “The CIA guys said, ‘We’re going to have some real difficulties getting actionable intelligence from detainees'” if interrogators confined themselves to treatment allowed by the Geneva Conventions.

Cheney and his allies, according to more than two dozen current and former officials, pioneered a novel distinction between forbidden “torture” and permitted use of “cruel, inhuman or degrading” methods of questioning. They did not originate every idea to rewrite or reinterpret the law, but fresh accounts from participants show that they translated muscular theories, from Yoo and others, into the operational language of government.

A backlash beginning in 2004, after reports of abuse leaked out of Iraq’s Abu Ghraib prison and Guantanamo Bay, brought what appeared to be sharp reversals in courts and Congress — for Cheney’s claims of executive supremacy and for his unyielding defense of what he called “robust interrogation.”

What more proof does anyone need that this is not an American administration? This is a nightmare out of a bad horror flick. Where are the heroic teenagers from the 1950s who discover the Monster that adults do not believe exists? Americans today are as dumb as their ‘B’ movie counterparts. They look right at the monster and are hypnotized into believing the monster mantras. The movie ‘1984’ has us in it’s “Group Speak” and “Group Think” grip. Thinkers are outlaws. Lord Cheney, the evil ruler of America’s powers is out to change us from free thinkers to ‘group robots’. We are living in a ‘B’ Horror Movie! Feel Free to scream!

Beware Christian Dominionists – God Tells Them To Kill

Posted by bosskitty on June 21, 2007

Beware the Dominionist “love bomb” By Kerry Tomasi Online Journal Contributing Writer

During a recent address to the Good Shepherd Baptists in Terre Haute Indiana, Col. J. Tyler Ryberg had this to say about our “war on terror”, and its current focal point, Iraq: ” . . . it’s an act of love to kill evil people who seek to kill Americans, it’s an act of love for our nation”. And with regards to those “Islamic jihadists” in Iraq seeking to kill us: “Peace is not an option.”

In light of the half million innocent (i.e. – not “Islamic jihadists”) Iraqi men, women, and children who may have been killed (thus far) as a result of our invasion, many have questioned where Col. Ryberg gets his reasoning (not to mention his definition of “love”).

But I’m not one of them. I know where he gets his reasoning. He gets it from what he deems the “supreme law of the land” – the Bible, and specifically the Old Testament.

Consider the biblical account of God’s ‘chosen ones’ (the first ones, not us) and their foray into the land of Canaan. Recall that God instructed Moses and Joshua to invade the “promised land” and kill everything and everyone they could get their hands on. They were to ” . . . save alive nothing that breatheth”. (Deut 20:16-17, 7:1-2, Josh 10:40)

When you combine this myopic “we’re special” conditioning with the reasoning espoused by Ryberg and others within the Dominionist movement (Google or Mash it), you create an extremely volatile and dangerous situation. And it’s all the more dangerous because these folks have infiltrated and/or control much of the Republican Party.

They want an authoritarian theocracy similar in design and kind to that in the days of Moses and Joshua.

A theocracy that believes it has a god-given right to exercise dominion over the entire earth, including other people and their property.

A theocracy that views billions of others not quite like themselves as evil.

A theocracy with enough nuclear firepower to destroy the planet.

So much for the Constitution …
