Bush Jealous: Malaki And Karzai Warm Up To Iran, Watch Out For Cheney

Posted by bosskitty on August 12, 2007

Bush breaks up Iran-Iraq love-in Correspondents in Washington and Tehran
US President George W. Bush yesterday told Tehran there would “be a price to pay” for meddling in Iraq and warned Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki against cosying up to the leaders of Iran.

Amid what Washington sees as unsettling signs of warming Baghdad-Tehran relations, Mr Bush said he was not surprised at pictures yesterday that showed cordial meetings between Mr Maliki and top Iranian leaders in Tehran, but he said he hoped the Shia leader was delivering a tough message.

“You don’t want the picture to be kind of, you know, ducking it out” when on a diplomatic mission, he said, putting up his fists like a boxer.

“If the signal is that Iran is constructive, I will have to have a heart-to-heart with my friend the Prime Minister because I do not believe they are,” Mr Bush said.
Mr Bush’s comments came just days after he disagreed sharply with Afghan President Hamid Karzai about Iran’s influence after Mr Karzai called Tehran a positive force in combating extremists in his country.
Iraq PM calls emergency summit correspondents in Baghdad | August 13, 2007
PRIME Minister Nuri al-Maliki overnight called on senior leaders in Iraq’s bitterly divided communities to hold crisis talks this week in an effort to save his fraying national unity government.
His latest attempt to bring the leaders of the warring communites under one roof came at a time when the American military declared that five more of its troops battling to bring security to war-torn Iraq had been killed.
“I have invited major political leaders to a meeting to discuss substantial matters,” Mr Maliki said in a televised speech.
“Tomorrow or the day after tomorrow could be the first meeting for these leaders to discuss the political program and important strategic problems,”   the embattled Shiite prime minister said.

The last thing King George and Lord Cheney want is for Iraq’s neighbors to kiss and make up. Watch closely while Cheney’s Blackwater/KBR/CIA goons do something to screw this neighbors night out in the Middle East. Cheney has a plan, whether Bush goes along or not. Can’t have peace breaking out before we are through destroying everything in sight. Got to make good on the promises made to our ‘war profiteers’. We must pay them for contracts never met – we only have a short time left before someone demands accountability. INCENTIVE FOR UNSCRUPULOUS BEHAVIOR is what has kept this ‘A-Bomb-A-Nation’ in office. The clock is counting down. Watch out for the UNSCRUPULOUS terrorist production coming to a city near you.

Musharraf To Attend Peace “jirga”

Posted by nytexan on August 10, 2007

LAHORE, Pakistan (CNN) — Pakistan’s president has “agreed in principle” to address the closing session of the current joint Afghan-Pakistani meeting that he originally declined to attend, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry said Friday.

The meeting, a “joint peace jirga,” is being held in the Afghan capital, Kabul. Gen. Pervez Musharraf was to attend but bowed out at the last minute.

However, there had been indications that he might try to get there.

The ministry issued a statement saying Afghan President Hamid Karzai phoned Musharraf on Friday night and invited him “to attend the closing session of the joint peace jirga.”

“President Karzai said that the president’s personal participation would be a source of support and encouragement for the jirga process. The president agreed in principle to address the closing session of the joint peace jirga,” the ministry said.

The Pakistani leader, whose nearly eight-year rule is being challenged by opposition activists and Islamic militants, cited “engagements in the capital” for his

A crisis had been brewing in Pakistan at the time he called Karzai and told him he couldn’t make a personal appearance.

Pakistani leaders were considering the imposition of a state of emergency because of the growing security threats in the country’s lawless tribal regions.

But Musharraf, influenced in part by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, held off on the move.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz leads the Pakistani delegation at the event.

Relations between Musharraf and Karzai have been chilly for some time, as Afghan officials have accused Pakistan of allowing Taliban and al Qaeda fighters to regroup and carve out a new safe haven along Pakistan’s largely lawless northwestern frontier.

The three-day jirga — which is a tribal assembly — opened Thursday. The two presidents initiated the process for the jirga last September.

Pakistani TVs say Musharraf to declare emergency

All the prophets that have been watching this game unfold knew exactly what Musharraf was planning. Now that the US Presidential elections are raising the volume on rhetoric about terror and what to do about it, Musharraf’s grip on power is slipping. His precarious balancing act is starting to tilt, so, his solution is to declare the emergency in a last effort to stay in power. One of the presidential debaters made it clear that Musharraf is the only one keeping Pakistani nukes out of terrorist hands. Good or bad, there is no one on our side waiting in the wings who can guarantee anyone’s safety from Pakistan’s nuclear armaments

Mixed Signals and Doublespeak

Posted by bosskitty on August 5, 2007

Gates Says Troop Drawdown Possible

WASHINGTON –  Defense Secretary Robert Gates acknowledged Sunday that political stability in Iraq won’t likely happen before the Bush administration makes its critical September assessment on whether its war strategy is working. But Gates declined to predict that a drawdown of U.S. military forces in such a scenario would happen by year’s end.

Gates is almost good at ‘doublespeak‘. More references to Orwellian moments.

“It’s a possibility,” Gates hedged, when asked if he considered a troop drawdown this year a “strong possibility” or would bet on it.

“We’re doing contingency planning on a lot of different possibilities,” Gates said.

“Circumstances changed in a different way,” Gates said. “That’s the process we hope will evolve over time.”

Gates cannot keep his optimism afloat. Speculation about what US “drawdown” capabilities will be when Petraeus reads his script in September, is a marketing exercise. Why can’t Gates keep his story straight? Because, he has no clue what script will handed to him, he is not the only Hollywood production in the works.

US may start Iraq pull-out this year, says Gates
Gates: U.S. underestimated Iraq ‘mistrust’
Gates says Iraq politics disappointing

Gates says political stability in Iraq unlikely before September

Then, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says on Fox Noise,
Security “has improved some” because of U.S. and Iraqi cooperation, she said Sunday.

“Clearly, too, we have a lot of work to do on the political side,” she said. But, she added, “I would not underestimate the importance of the continuing work of the leaders of these very powerful parties in Iraq.” A majority vote would get the law passed “but it would not have the force of all of the groups that wanted to do this,” she said. “They don’t want a 51-49 on constitutional reform.”

Condi is expert at ‘doublespeak‘. No one can pin her down on anything.

Good Timing For Bush – American Al Qaeda Speaks

Posted by bosskitty on August 5, 2007

Qaeda video vows attacks on US missions

LONDON (Thomson Financial) – A wanted American member of Al-Qaeda has warned in a new video that US diplomatic missions and other interests were ‘legitimate targets,’ vowing that the network would attack these ‘spy dens.’

In the footage compiled by Al-Qaeda’s production arm As-Sahab, an unnamed narrator singled out US missions in oil-rich Gulf Arab states as potential targets.

American Terrorist Threatens U.S. in New Al Qaeda Video

CAIRO, Egypt — An American member of Al Qaeda threatened foreign diplomats and embassies in the Islamic world calling them “spy dens” in the terror network’s latest video released Sunday. “We shall continue to target you, at home and abroad, just as you target us, at home and abroad, and these spy dens and military command and control centers from which you plotted your aggression against Afghanistan and Iraq,” said Adam Gadahn, also known as Azzan al-Amriki.

Well, well, well, whether the threat is real or not, the timing of this new threat is impeccable. That children’s story, about the kid who cried ‘WOLF’ too many times, is front and center in my mind. King George has deceived us so many times and been caught in so many lies, that I am skeptical about any more video productions allegedly from Al Qaeda. If this threat is real, we are at the same security level we’ve been in since the war began. Nothing has really changed. Bush and his marketing handlers have staged so many productions that Hollywood should be the one threatened. Funny how Al Qaeda pops into the news every time Bush wants to pull something over on Americans. This ‘American Al Qaeda’ is probably a CIA operative who is handed a script to boost polls to continue Bush’s Armageddon Envy.

Following The Yellow Brick Road Makes Enemies Stronger

Posted by bosskitty on August 4, 2007

The Pashtun time bomb

The alarming growth of Al Qaeda and the Taliban in the Pashtun tribal region of northwest Pakistan and southern Afghanistan is usually attributed to the popularity of their messianic brand of Islam and to covert help from Pakistani intelligence agencies.

But another, more ominous reason also explains their success: their symbiotic relationship with a simmering Pashtun separatist movement that could lead to the unification of the estimated 41 million Pashtuns on both sides of the border, the breakup of Pakistan and Afghanistan, and the emergence of a new national entity, “Pashtunistan,” under radical Islamist leadership.

Pakistan and Afghanistan are fragile, multiethnic states. Ironically, by ignoring ethnic factors and defining the struggle with jihadists mainly in military terms, the United States is inadvertently helping Al Qaeda and the Taliban capture the leadership of Pashtun nationalism. (entire article)

I could while away the hours
Conferrin’ with the flowers
Consultin’ with the rain
And my head, I’d be scratchin’
While my thoughts were busy hatchin’
If I only had a brain.

Are we living in OZ?  Are we Munchkins running toward the Land of Oz: a fantasy region containing four countries under the rule of one monarch The United States is on a collision course with reality.   Other countries that occupy the same planet, are holding their breath to see if America will return from the alternate reality imposed on the American population and the world.   The USA has emboldened the occupants of that nether world between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

In the conventional wisdom, either Islamist or Pashtun identity will triumph, but a more plausible possibility is that the result could be what the former Pakistani diplomat Hussain Haqqani has called an “Islamic Pashtunistan.”

Pashtuns being the largest single ethnic group in Afghanistan, bitterly resent the disproportionate influence enjoyed by the Tajik ethnic minority in the Karzai regime, a legacy of U.S. collaboration with Tajik militias in overthrowing the TalibanPashtunsalso feel that they have been the main victims of U.S.-NATO bombing attacks on the Taliban, who are largely Pashtuns and operate almost entirely in Pashtun territory. In one authoritative estimate, civilian casualties have numbered nearly 5,000 since 2001.

So, what does the US do?  It promotes further conflict that insures the “terror” threat does not fade.  The Republican Administration is fearful that their grip on World Domination remains justifiable.  Without a Terror Threat could we accidentally slip back into stability?.  Without a Terror Threat,  Republicans would loose their grip on the gullible voters.   After all,  there is a lot of taxpayer money money money to be pocketed.

The Minnesota bridge is a fine example of where taxpayer dollars should be going,  not into the pockets of corrupt war profiteering buddies.  The billions of dollars that are wasted, lost or unaccounted for since the Terror War was hi-jacked to Iraq,  could be applied to countless US projects to protect our own infrastructure.  Take a VERY close look at what Congress is spending on right now!   They are appropriating money to fix that Minnesota Bridge.    Great afterthought, huh?

Tough Choices: Who Should We Fear, Them Or Us

Maliki: timetable for US withdrawal not possible

Iraqi PM says neither Baghdad nor Washington can set timetable for withdrawal of US troops from Iraq.

Collapsing Bridges vs. War in Iraq

The Bush administration’s spending priorities – including an estimated $1 trillion for an unnecessary war – will cost the lives not only of US soldiers and Iraqi civilians but American citizens who will die from a decaying infrastructure and other government neglect, argues Stephen Crockett.

Daily demonstrations of corporate corruption, political corruption, missing cash, misused assets, and general bribery reminiscent of third world dictatorships. Corruption is an epidemic in the United States of America. Why? The ‘shock and awe’ of America’s decline is overwhelming. Republicans and Democrats share this disgusting tragedy. Republicans currently hold center stage and are too arrogant about being entitled to break every law this country has. Why? Aren’t tired of the word “FREEDOM” being used for everything from War to Viagra? What exactly are Americans FREE to do? Free to be lazy and complacent? Free to be led by the nose into total chaos by self-serving politicraps? America’s passion has been hi-jacked and is held hostage by political marketing!

Does anyone remember Nikita Khrushchev:

“Politicians are the same all over. They promise to build a bridge even where there is no river.”

He was the instigator of Soviet missile forces in Cuba and the Cuban missile crisis, the builder of the Berlin Wall, launched Sputnik and started the Cold War and the space race.  Nikita was a comic but worthy enemy.  His uneducated wisdom does ring true today.

We are victims of our own success and will be hung by our own rope, so espoused Nikita Khrushchev.

Tom Tancredo Wants To Attack Mecca and Medina

Posted by nytexan on August 1, 2007

GOP candidate Tom Tancredo is just as crazy as John McCain. Remember how McCain sang bomb Iran, well Tancredo isn’t singing he’s spouting words of bombing Mecca or Medina, because it would deter somebody from attacking us. Are these GOP candidates freaking crazy? Are they trying to start a world war? Granted Tancredo will never make it through the primaries, but the idea of saying this, just fuels the fire for Al Qaeda. Smart move Tom lets start a real holy war.

  • OSCEOLA — Followers of radical Islam must be deterred from committing a nuclear attack on U.S. soil, Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo said Tuesday morning, saying that as president he would take drastic measures to prevent such attacks.

  • “If it is up to me, we are going to explain that an attack on this homeland of that nature would be followed by an attack on the holy sites in Mecca and Medina,” the GOP presidential candidate said. “That is the only thing I can think of that might deter somebody from doing what they would otherwise do. If I am wrong fine, tell me, and I would be happy to do something else. But you had better find a deterrent or you will find an attack. There is no other way around it. There have to be negative consequences for the actions they take. That’s the most negative I can think of.”

Thank god it’s not up to this loon. His logic is worse than president incompetent.

  • The harsh approach is vital in order to prevent a worldwide collapse, Tancredo told nearly 30 people Tuesday morning at the Family Table restaurant.

  • “Beyond the loss of human life and devastation, it would cause a worldwide economic collapse,” Tancredo said of a nuclear attack on U.S soil. “If all of a sudden we are not a consuming engine of the world, the producing nations will collapse also. That is what they want, that is what they are looking for, to end Western civilization as we know it.”

  • Tancredo said there was no such deterrent in place right now.

  • “The president and this country better figure out exactly what it can do to deter, I underline deter, the next attack,” Tancredo said. “Deter, not just respond, deter, or else I assure you we are going to suffer. The extent of which of course I do not know. I know what they are planning and I know what they want. I do not know if they are going to be capable of doing this tomorrow, the next day or a month from now. I know right now at this moment there is nothing that deters them.”

  • Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff said earlier this month he had a “gut feeling” that nation could fall under another terrorist attack. Tancredo said it is possible potential terrorists are residing in this country.

Does he really believe Chertoff’s “gut feeling”; Chertoff even said it wasn’t a warning? Alarmist is all the GOP is scare the public to get a vote.

  • Tancredo told the crowd officials recently broke up a illegal immigrant smuggling ring and discovered people of Middle Eastern descent were paying $25,000 to $50,000 to gain entry into this country.

  • “You have to ask yourselves, why would anybody pay $25,000 to $50,000 to be smuggled into the United States?” Tancredo asked. “It’s not to work over here at the Quick Stop or the 7-11. If you pay $50,000 to be smuggled into the United States or somebody is paying that for you, it’s probably for some other purpose, not to just get a job that no American will take.”

Where is he getting this information from? Typical GOP BS, they run their mouths and don’t even think of backing it up with hard facts.

Bush, Still The Most Dangerous Friend A Country Can Have

Pakistan hits out at U.S. terrorism stance
By Paul Eckert, Asia Correspondent: Reuters
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Pakistan hit back on Sunday at U.S. critics of its fight against terrorism, insisting its army was best suited to hunt for Osama bin Laden and other al Qaeda militants Washington believes enjoy safe haven in Pakistani tribal areas near Afghanistan.

Appearing on CNN’s “Late Edition,” an angry Foreign Minister Khursheed Mehmood Kasuri criticized talk of U.S. forces attacking al Qaeda on Pakistani territory, warning that any incursion would alienate opinion in the predominantly Muslim U.S. ally against terrorism.

“What I don’t like is the tone that I am now hearing and that I am now reading in the American media,” said Kasuri.

Kasuri told CNN talk of an al Qaeda “safe haven” in their country angered the Pakistanis, who have had 700 soldiers killed fighting militants in tribal areas.

“What we need is actionable intelligence” to tackle al Qaeda, he said, and reiterated his government’s view that talk of U.S. strikes inside Pakistan was “irresponsible.”

Senate Majority leader Harry Reid, a staunch critic of Bush’s war in Iraq, said: “I don’t think we should take anything off the table.” Wherever we find these evil people, we should go get them,” the Nevada Democrat told CBS’ “Face the Nation.”
Kasuri said U.S. raids into Pakistan would be a mistake. “When you talk of going after targets, you will lose the battle for hearts and minds,” he said. “The Pakistan Army can do the job much better,” he said.

Bush administration officials stress that they support Musharraf, who is struggling with a violent campaign by Islamic militants and a political crisis following Pakistan’s Supreme Court reinstatement of the chief justice after Musharraf sought to remove him.

This is a dangerous development for Musharraf. The Bush administration cannot shake off the bungling of it’s angry promise to “bring Osama and AlQaeda to justice” for the events of September 11, 2001. Bush claimed over and over that “we will hunt them down wherever they are”. Now, Bush is forced to consider dumping his ‘good buddy’ to the radical opposition and try to play catch up with his promises to America.

Bush got this country sidetracked, took his eye off the original ball to invade Iraq by weaving a web of deception and bungled the whole thing. Bush has covered lies with more lies and protected his deceptions with ‘executive privilege’. Bush has wiggled his ‘executive orders’ into a mesh of Constitution busting edicts. The fabric of America is in the hands of both houses of Congress.

Bush’s mantra that AlQaeda will follow us home is the most ignorant assertion anyone could make! American troops are ‘over there’ getting wasted while they could be here protecting their homes and families. Why would AlQaeda choose to attack America when we are LEAST vulnerable with our troops HERE? Logic would show that we are MOST vulnerable NOW when our protectors are deployed in a quagmire far, far away.
Is this country really buying this backwards logic?
Are all the ‘thinkers’ in this country becoming ‘ex-pats’ or buried into prescription ‘feel-good’ drugs? Those of us, who cannot afford the cost of escape, must deal with the situation at hand. Impeach, Indict or Censure – I don’t care, just do something!

N.I.E. Report: Failure In Fighting al Qeada

Posted by nytexan on July 18, 2007

WASHINGTON, July 17 — President Bush’s top counterterrorism advisers acknowledged Tuesday that the strategy for fighting Osama bin Laden’s leadership of Al Qaeda in Pakistan had failed, as the White House released a grim new intelligence assessment that has forced the administration to consider more aggressive measures inside Pakistan.

  • The intelligence report, the most formal assessment since the Sept. 11 attacks about the terrorist threat facing the United States, concludes that the United States is losing ground on a number of fronts in the fight against Al Qaeda, and describes the terrorist organization as having significantly strengthened over the past two years.
  • In identifying the main reasons for Al Qaeda’s resurgence, intelligence officials and White House aides pointed the finger squarely at a hands-off approach toward the tribal areas by Pakistan’s president, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, who last year brokered a cease-fire with tribal leaders in an effort to drain support for Islamic extremism in the region.

Pointing finger, Bush should be very good at this by now.  It’s always someone else fault but President incompetent and his staff.

  • The bleak intelligence assessment was made public in the middle of a bitter Congressional debate about the future of American policy in Iraq. White House officials said it bolstered the Bush administration’s argument that Iraq was the “central front” in the war on terror, because that was where Qaeda operatives were directly attacking American forces.

I guess LIEberman missed the report. After all he did say in his filibuster last night that al Qeada is on the run. What a putz.

  • The report nevertheless left the White House fending off accusations that it had been distracted by the war in Iraq and that the deals it had made with President Musharraf had resulted in lost time and lost ground.
  • While the assessment described the Qaeda branch in Iraq as the “most visible and capable affiliate” of the terror organization, intelligence officials noted that the operatives in Iraq remained focused on attacking targets inside that country’s borders, not those on American or European soil.

Maybe we should share this with Bush since he continues to say that we are fighting al Qeada in Iraq because they are the group responsible for 9/11. They are not the same, they’ll even tell you there not the same.  Sometimes I think Cheney doesn’t give Bush the correct information, just so he can get a few laughs.

  • The intelligence report, known as a National Intelligence Estimate, represents the consensus view of all 16 agencies that make up the American intelligence community. The report concluded that the United States would face a “persistent and evolving terrorist threat over the next three years.”
  •  At the White House, Ms. Townsend found herself in the uncomfortable position of explaining why American military action was focused in Iraq when the report concluded that main threat of terror attacks that could be carried out in the United States emanated from the tribal areas of Pakistan.
  • She argued that it was Mr. bin Laden, as well as the White House, who regarded “Iraq as the central front in the war on terror.”

Ok so because bin Laden and Bush said the same thing it must be right. That logic would infer that Osama is an advisor to Bush. Do these people in the White think before they open their freaking mouths?

The real reason we are in Iraq is oil and Saddam threatened his daddy.
