GOP candidate Tom Tancredo is just as crazy as John McCain. Remember how McCain sang bomb Iran, well Tancredo isn’t singing he’s spouting words of bombing Mecca or Medina, because it would deter somebody from attacking us. Are these GOP candidates freaking crazy? Are they trying to start a world war? Granted Tancredo will never make it through the primaries, but the idea of saying this, just fuels the fire for Al Qaeda. Smart move Tom lets start a real holy war.
- OSCEOLA — Followers of radical Islam must be deterred from committing a nuclear attack on U.S. soil, Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo said Tuesday morning, saying that as president he would take drastic measures to prevent such attacks.
- “If it is up to me, we are going to explain that an attack on this homeland of that nature would be followed by an attack on the holy sites in Mecca and Medina,” the GOP presidential candidate said. “That is the only thing I can think of that might deter somebody from doing what they would otherwise do. If I am wrong fine, tell me, and I would be happy to do something else. But you had better find a deterrent or you will find an attack. There is no other way around it. There have to be negative consequences for the actions they take. That’s the most negative I can think of.”
Thank god it’s not up to this loon. His logic is worse than president incompetent.
- The harsh approach is vital in order to prevent a worldwide collapse, Tancredo told nearly 30 people Tuesday morning at the Family Table restaurant.
- “Beyond the loss of human life and devastation, it would cause a worldwide economic collapse,” Tancredo said of a nuclear attack on U.S soil. “If all of a sudden we are not a consuming engine of the world, the producing nations will collapse also. That is what they want, that is what they are looking for, to end Western civilization as we know it.”
- Tancredo said there was no such deterrent in place right now.
- “The president and this country better figure out exactly what it can do to deter, I underline deter, the next attack,” Tancredo said. “Deter, not just respond, deter, or else I assure you we are going to suffer. The extent of which of course I do not know. I know what they are planning and I know what they want. I do not know if they are going to be capable of doing this tomorrow, the next day or a month from now. I know right now at this moment there is nothing that deters them.”
- Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff said earlier this month he had a “gut feeling” that nation could fall under another terrorist attack. Tancredo said it is possible potential terrorists are residing in this country.
Does he really believe Chertoff’s “gut feeling”; Chertoff even said it wasn’t a warning? Alarmist is all the GOP is scare the public to get a vote.
- Tancredo told the crowd officials recently broke up a illegal immigrant smuggling ring and discovered people of Middle Eastern descent were paying $25,000 to $50,000 to gain entry into this country.
- “You have to ask yourselves, why would anybody pay $25,000 to $50,000 to be smuggled into the United States?” Tancredo asked. “It’s not to work over here at the Quick Stop or the 7-11. If you pay $50,000 to be smuggled into the United States or somebody is paying that for you, it’s probably for some other purpose, not to just get a job that no American will take.”
Where is he getting this information from? Typical GOP BS, they run their mouths and don’t even think of backing it up with hard facts.

Since they are an ally, they are the largest purchaser of U.S. weapons and they are working with Sec. Rice on Iraq. Not to mention we get our oil from them. So, I guess both you and Tancredo needs to do some reading before you run your uneducated mouths.

Thank you for your comment. I never thought of Israel being behind all of this. However, you do make a very good point. It’s interesting that Israel is not involved in any of the talks in the region regarding Iraq, since it would be to their benefit to have things under control.
As I read the excerpt you provided, I find it interesting that Israel suggested the partition of Iraq long before the first Gulf War. Partitioning is an idea that several of our politicians and a few current candidates have espoused and are currently promoting.
It would not be a stretch for Israel to be a silent partner with the U.S. on the Iraqi invasion. We have partnered up many times in the past publicly and privately for mutual gain. Iraq after all is all about the oil.
Tancredo’s idea of attacking Mecca and Medina shows the level of ignorance and the continued scare tactics of the GOP. It also shows, once again the GOP’s limited thought process given to a plan.

Think of all the industries that could be supported by such a move. We could easily shift the USA to a permnent war economy and draft in order to work up to a burgeoning war market.
You have to think of war as a huge market for goods and services. A world war III is really just what we need. Martial Law (no more money wasted on such trifles as elections) a constant state of war exists so no need for social programs, draft everyone into a new “War” Corp. (instead of peace corp) using the Haliburton Concentration camps to round up Negative Thinkers (disenters in the old speak). The reason we are still here today is the fact that the US and USSR refrained from using nuclear weapons because of the reality of “mutual destruction”. What is there to deter a group of radical Muslims, be they from Pakistan, Yemen, Syria, or wherever in the ME from detonating a nuclear device in say, my hometown of NYC? How would we even determine who or where to strike back? Tancredo is attempting to establish the mutual destruction of something so dear to Muslims, that would deprive the would be perpetrators of Martyrdom and a trip straight to hell, that they would never act on their hatred of us infidels in such a manner. Also, he is not talking about bringing us into battle with Saudi Arabia, he is talking about its annihilation. Which, I can assure you will include most of the ME, regardless of who is in office if a nuclear detonation were to take place.

Back in the old times, or should I say by refering to the Holy Quran, there was an action pertaining to suggestions like this. It happened in 570AD and this was also when the Prophet Muhammad was born. It was dubbed the Elephant Year by the Arabs because of the event that took place in Mecca.
Back then people from all Arabian peninsular was going there and do their pilgrimage there(Ka’bah). And it was not because of Islam. They go there to pay homage to their polytheistic gods like Hubal and etc.
But in Yemen, a great king named Abrahah built himself a great cathedral so that people will flock(pilgrimage) to his kingdom. He was jealous to the popularity of Mecca. One day, his jealousy turned to anger because a Bedouin was pissing in the place.
Therefore in his rage, he built a great army led by an elephant and set off towards Mecca to destroy the very symbol that he really hates, the Ka’bah. The astonishing part about this event is that the Arab tribe that govern Mecca doesn’t try and attack Abrahah. What happened was summed with a famous conversation between the leader of the tribe and the king. Abrahah said,”What do you want?”. Abrahah had taken Abd al-Muttalib’s camels, which he had found grazing as he entered Mecca, so Abd al-Muttalib replied,”I want my camels back.” Abrahah was very surprised and said,”I have come to destroy your Holy Ka’bah, the holy place of your fathers, and you ask me about some camels?” Abd al-Muttalib replied calmly,”The camels belong to me; the Ka’bah belongs to Allah and He will protect it.”
Then he led in his tribe to nearby mountains. The next morning, he prepared to enter the town. He put armor on his elephant and drew up his troops for battle. He intended to destroy the Ka’bah and then return to Yemen. At that moment, however, the elephant knelt down and refused to get up, no matter how much the soldiers tried to get it to move by beating it. But when they turned its face in the direction of Yemen it immediately got up and started off. In fact, it did the same in any other direction, but as soon as they pointed it towards Mecca it knelt down again.
Suddenly, flocks of birds(the bird was called Ababil) appeared from over the sea. Each bird carried three stones as small as peas and they dropped them on Abrahah’s army. The soldiers suddenly fell ill. Even Abrahah was hit by the stones and fled in fear with the rest of his army back to Yemen, where he later died. On seeing their enemy flee the Arabs came down from the mountains to the Ka’bah and gave thanks to Allah.
It was stated in the Holy Quran.
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou not seen how thy Lord dealt with the owners of the Elephant?
Did He not bring their stratagem to naught,
And send against them swarms of flying creatures,
Which pelted them with stones of baked clay,
And made them like green crops devoured (by cattle)?
(Koran cv.1-5)
By referring to this text, it is shown clearly that the Muslims will not be morally reduced because of the structure destruction. They will protect it if they can or otherwise the place has its own guardian. Ultimately, Allah has challenge whoever dares to attack His House and be a witness to their own doom and therefore it is shown that this will also be a true test to the Muslim faith when this happen.

But, the fact remains that in almost 90% of world conflicts one or both sides are muslim. Not that it has to do anything with Mecca, it has to do with Islam being used not as religion (as it should be) but as ideology. And religion with ideology makes very bad combo – as seen in thrity year war in Europe back in 17th century or in northern Ireland where two christian denominations were in the middle of what basically was an nationalist struggle. Balkan wars are somewhat similar.

Maybe its kinda hard for you to understand.. but despite its somewhat checkered past, Christianity’s basic tenets are very different than that of islam. There is NO comparison between Christian fundamentalists and Islamic fundamentalists because the ‘fundamentals’ of Christianity is one of love and tolerance while Muhammed himself was the most intolerant bigotted murderer the world has seen, save maybe Hitler. If Islam really was a religion of peace, then there would have been atleast some period of time where there was peace under Islam. You will, sadly, find no such thing. Is it any surprise that when gays, lesbians from the ‘palestinian’ territories are persecuted, they flee to Israel for their salvation. Islam is not a religion at all: Muhammed intended to use Allah as a political tool for capturing all of the Arabian peninsula and the same thing is happening even now with the modern muhammeds like Ahmedinijad and Nasrallah. There is no difference in technique between those two modern terrorist and that 7th century ones. Except that the former have AK-47s. Islam’s goal is to replace every constitution of the world with the one that’s based on Sharia. A few things need to be explained, the first is what is Sharia. Sharia is Islamic Law that is based on verses from the Qur’an(Koran), sayings and explanations of the prophet muhmmad (hadith) and past rulings by Muslim scholars and judges. The Sharia covers everything from the rights and responsibilities of the ruler and the ruled, how one should treat his family, employees etc.,hygiene, and various other social, political, and economic topics. Next is that Islam is an Abrahamic faith, so to say that it is a political tool and not a religion, implies that Judaism and Christianity were and are for a similar purpose. It is true and i will not deny it that Muslim armies have throughout history been present in many lands but so have Christian armies. May i remind you that the colonization of the world in the last 300 years have been at the hands of Christian nations, espousing the ideas of ‘white man’s burden’ and for ‘God and country’
There were long periods of peace under Islamic rule. Muslim Spain was about 700 years worth of peace, and some of the best scholars of that time period were Jews who were speaking fluent Arabic and hired by kings and governors for their knowledge. During the Reconquest of Spain and the Inquisition many of the Jews opted to leave Spain with the Muslims because they new they would be treated better. Many of the other wars were wars of resistance particularly those against the Mongol armies that came sweeping out of the east. The spread of Islam in the far eastern areas was due to the Mongol conquerors conversion to Islam and the work of Sufis who helped spread Islam in Afghanistan and India through their humanitarian service.
the last thing i would like to say is that radicalization is a reaction to pent up frustrations and increasing attacks from outsiders. Many people who join these groups are ignorant and frustrated with their lot in life. Many of these people are frustrated with their governments because of the like of human rights and economic growth and mobility. Many of these governments are supported by the United States, Saudi, Egypt, Jordan and others. Then when you attack someone’s religion and seem to be adding to their misery by supporting oppressive regimes, these people begin to radicalize and see ‘you’ as the source for their problems. In the end religion was never the real issue, religion was all that was left to them to dull the pain and hold those in power accountable for their actions, yet some have turned religion into politics and perverted the true essence of Islam.
There are 7 million Muslims in America and at least 1.2 billion around the world. Believe me if all 1.2 billion Muslims were on the war against the western world you would know it.
no need for Christians to fear Muslims, we think Jesus will return to earth as well, we just believe that he is not divine.

Thank you for your well thought out explanation. First let me say that I do not follow the Christian religion in any form. I am a firm believer that Christians have created more wars, crusades and death and sadness than any group throughout history. I am also aware of the Jewish Muslim relationship in Spain and again Christians got in the way and destroyed a prosperous and peace time in history.
However, what we see going on in the world today are people who are pitting religions against religions because of frustration (as you pointed out), ignorance of the world around them and fear; which is what Bush has done in Americas through fear and Tom Tancredo is trying to do. However, over half of Americans have become aware of Bush and his tactics and they have dismissed Tancredo as credible.
Regarding Jesus there’s not much if anything that I believe in those stories. But that’s topic is for another day.
