Tom Tancredo Wants To Attack Mecca and Medina

Posted by nytexan on August 1, 2007

GOP candidate Tom Tancredo is just as crazy as John McCain. Remember how McCain sang bomb Iran, well Tancredo isn’t singing he’s spouting words of bombing Mecca or Medina, because it would deter somebody from attacking us. Are these GOP candidates freaking crazy? Are they trying to start a world war? Granted Tancredo will never make it through the primaries, but the idea of saying this, just fuels the fire for Al Qaeda. Smart move Tom lets start a real holy war.

  • OSCEOLA — Followers of radical Islam must be deterred from committing a nuclear attack on U.S. soil, Colorado Congressman Tom Tancredo said Tuesday morning, saying that as president he would take drastic measures to prevent such attacks.

  • “If it is up to me, we are going to explain that an attack on this homeland of that nature would be followed by an attack on the holy sites in Mecca and Medina,” the GOP presidential candidate said. “That is the only thing I can think of that might deter somebody from doing what they would otherwise do. If I am wrong fine, tell me, and I would be happy to do something else. But you had better find a deterrent or you will find an attack. There is no other way around it. There have to be negative consequences for the actions they take. That’s the most negative I can think of.”

Thank god it’s not up to this loon. His logic is worse than president incompetent.

  • The harsh approach is vital in order to prevent a worldwide collapse, Tancredo told nearly 30 people Tuesday morning at the Family Table restaurant.

  • “Beyond the loss of human life and devastation, it would cause a worldwide economic collapse,” Tancredo said of a nuclear attack on U.S soil. “If all of a sudden we are not a consuming engine of the world, the producing nations will collapse also. That is what they want, that is what they are looking for, to end Western civilization as we know it.”

  • Tancredo said there was no such deterrent in place right now.

  • “The president and this country better figure out exactly what it can do to deter, I underline deter, the next attack,” Tancredo said. “Deter, not just respond, deter, or else I assure you we are going to suffer. The extent of which of course I do not know. I know what they are planning and I know what they want. I do not know if they are going to be capable of doing this tomorrow, the next day or a month from now. I know right now at this moment there is nothing that deters them.”

  • Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff said earlier this month he had a “gut feeling” that nation could fall under another terrorist attack. Tancredo said it is possible potential terrorists are residing in this country.

Does he really believe Chertoff’s “gut feeling”; Chertoff even said it wasn’t a warning? Alarmist is all the GOP is scare the public to get a vote.

  • Tancredo told the crowd officials recently broke up a illegal immigrant smuggling ring and discovered people of Middle Eastern descent were paying $25,000 to $50,000 to gain entry into this country.

  • “You have to ask yourselves, why would anybody pay $25,000 to $50,000 to be smuggled into the United States?” Tancredo asked. “It’s not to work over here at the Quick Stop or the 7-11. If you pay $50,000 to be smuggled into the United States or somebody is paying that for you, it’s probably for some other purpose, not to just get a job that no American will take.”

Where is he getting this information from? Typical GOP BS, they run their mouths and don’t even think of backing it up with hard facts.

And it wasn’t Islam that attacked us, it was either some whacked out, small group of Islamic FUNDAMENTALISTS, or Israel.

I opt for Israel. They seem to be benefiting the most from this stupidity.

    Oded Yinon’s

“A Strategy for Israel in the Nineteen Eighties”

    Published by the
Association of Arab-American University Graduates, Inc.
    Belmont, Massachusetts, 1982

    Section 23

Iraq, rich in oil on the one hand and internally torn on the other, is guaranteed as a candidate for Israel’s targets. Its dissolution is even more important for us than that of Syria. Iraq is stronger than Syria. In the short run it is Iraqi power which constitutes the greatest threat to Israel. An Iraqi-Iranian war will tear Iraq apart and cause its downfall at home even before it is able to organize a struggle on a wide front against us. Every kind of inter-Arab confrontation will assist us in the short run and will shorten the way to the more important aim of breaking up Iraq into denominations as in Syria and in Lebanon. In Iraq, a division into provinces along ethnic/religious lines as in Syria during Ottoman times is possible. So, three (or more) states will exist around the three major cities: Basra, Baghdad and Mosul, and Shi’ite areas in the south will separate from the Sunni and Kurdish north. It is possible that the present Iranian-Iraqi confrontation will deepen this polarization.

It’s obvious by your limited statement and lack of knowledge that you listen to the GOP spin machine. Islam is not attacking us. Al Qaeda is a fundamentalist branch of Islam that are the terrorist.

By attacking Mecca and Medina, the U.S. would be starting a war with Saudi Arabia, pretty stupid idea. Since they are an ally, they are the largest purchaser of U.S. weapons and they are working with Sec. Rice on Iraq. Not to mention we get our oil from them. So, I guess both you and Tancredo needs to do some reading before you run your uneducated mouths.

    JPV:
Thank you for your comment. I never thought of Israel being behind all of this. However, you do make a very good point. It’s interesting that Israel is not involved in any of the talks in the region regarding Iraq, since it would be to their benefit to have things under control.

As I read the excerpt you provided, I find it interesting that Israel suggested the partition of Iraq long before the first Gulf War. Partitioning is an idea that several of our politicians and a few current candidates have espoused and are currently promoting.

It would not be a stretch for Israel to be a silent partner with the U.S. on the Iraqi invasion. We have partnered up many times in the past publicly and privately for mutual gain. Iraq after all is all about the oil.

Tancredo’s idea of attacking Mecca and Medina shows the level of ignorance and the continued scare tactics of the GOP. It also shows, once again the GOP’s limited thought process given to a plan.

Tom Tancredo is an asshole and that he is even running for president with some support shows that even a prosperous and literate country like America has a good amount of ignorant extremism. But you lose me when you put Tancredo in the same category as Mc Cain. Mc Cain was just joking. You might not like Mc Cain but he is the only really non-asshole Republican presidential contender. It’s a shame and tells us a lot about the hateful conservative base that the reason Mc Cain’s campaign is flagging is because of his rightful championing of immigration reform. Mc Cain is no Tancredo or that chameleon Romney or that idiot Fred Thompson who releases manifestos on such hate sites as Little Green Footballs.

Can you imagine a group blowing up the Vatican because some small Christian Evangelical group attacked a Muslim worship place?
hinduzionkafir is a total idiot who probably gets his “news” from Fox and Rush etc, so why even take his comment serious.

Hmmm.. you know it’s not really a bad idea.

Think of all the industries that could be supported by such a move. We could easily shift the USA to a permnent war economy and draft in order to work up to a burgeoning war market.

You have to think of war as a huge market for goods and services. A world war III is really just what we need. Martial Law (no more money wasted on such trifles as elections) a constant state of war exists so no need for social programs, draft everyone into a new “War” Corp. (instead of peace corp) using the Haliburton Concentration camps to round up Negative Thinkers (disenters in the old speak). Plus think of the enrichment of the enabler class (everyone else should be patriotic enough to support them, other wise they need to be reeducated).

  10. “HinduZionKafir” who are you trying to kid with your inflammatory screen name? Speaking as a Muslim, I would encourage you to refrain from defending any religion with a screen name like that. It helps nothing. It would also help if you would have read the context of the Blog and the Blog entry ;)

I realize that McCain was just joking, a poor joke at that. It was my way of showing the thoughtless things that are said on the campaign trail. McCain is far brighter than Tancredo and honestly I did vote for him in the 2000 primaries. However, today I wouldn’t give McCain the time of day.

Regarding the right on immigration reform that boils down to hatred and bigotry. They seem to do well in those categories.

What would be the equivalent of the destruction by islamic fundamentalists of the twin towers in the middle east? What is the symbol of islam? It has to be mecca or medina. They represent the symbolic aspect of islam in the same way that the twin towers represented capitalism. if we use islamic logic of an eye for an eye/tit for tat our turn is still to come.

What would islamic peoples do if the US had initiated the “war”…what if the US had sent 4 planes burning from the sky into mecca first at the time of the hajib. Please please let me know the response. Do islamic peoples expect us to be subjegated in an instant for fear of them. Did they expect us to do nothing? They do not know us.

  27. NY_realist said

Talk about spin. Tancredo is an idiot, I’ll give you that. But, how do you jump from his declaration of a retaliatory target, a necessity in nuclear deterrence and it’s prime goal of preventing a nuclear exchange to “bombing Mecca or Medina, because it would deter somebody from attacking us. Are these GOP candidates freaking crazy? Are they trying to start a world war?”
The reason we are still here today is the fact that the US and USSR refrained from using nuclear weapons because of the reality of “mutual destruction”. What is there to deter a group of radical Muslims, be they from Pakistan, Yemen, Syria, or wherever in the ME from detonating a nuclear device in say, my hometown of NYC? How would we even determine who or where to strike back? Tancredo is attempting to establish the mutual destruction of something so dear to Muslims, that would deprive the would be perpetrators of Martyrdom and a trip straight to hell, that they would never act on their hatred of us infidels in such a manner. Also, he is not talking about bringing us into battle with Saudi Arabia, he is talking about its annihilation. Which, I can assure you will include most of the ME, regardless of who is in office if a nuclear detonation were to take place.

  28. nytexan said

    NY_realist:
Regarding your statement on the US and USSR refrained from using nuclear weapons, goes without argument. However, I really don’t think that when you put radical Islam in the mix of nuclear weapons, mutual destruction will deter them. This type of attack would inspire all of them.

My statement on Saudi Arabia was in response to another comment, pointing out that attacking cities in Saudi Arabia would never be sanctioned for the reasons I stated. Also, I really don’t think Tencredco gave his statement full and serious thought, if he did mutual annihilation would have dawned on him.

Another dangerous idiot spouting inflammatory rhetoric? You mean like Obama advocating invading our nuclear ally, Pakistan?

Tancredo IS WRONG, though. He is wrong about threatening to level Medina and Mecca being any kind of effective deterrent against the Islamofascists’ nuking us. That threat would not deter them at all. Nothing will. They are not the USSR. They are seeking total Armageddon, total destruction of civilization as we know it, so they can start over from dirt with fundie Islam the one-world religion and Sharia the law of the land. Haven’t you heard?

This is part of why I espouse no organized religion at all. You want to believe in God, fine, do it on your own time, in your own mind. Not mine.

mary , let me answer your question. No one expect US to be quite after 9/11. Do you think US has been quite after 9/11? Over 600,000 Iraqis are dead. Afghanistan and Iraq has been occupied. Is this not enough? You still think it is not equivalent?

Muslims do not need to worry about attack on Mecca and Madina, becasue Almighty himself will prtotect his house. Anyway going after Mecca is equal to going after 52 Muslim countries not to mention 7 million American Muslims.

  31. Mecca and Medina should be long gone, along with the atrocious mosque on the templemount.

There should not be one single mosque in the US or any western country, no aid of any sort to Muhammedan crap-holes and absolutely no weapon sales to 7th century lunatics who want to rule the world with Allaballawalla madness.

Muhammad worshippers must be rounded up, interned and deported to the deserts they came from.

This type of attack would be the best gift we could give bin Laden. There are 7 million Muslims in the world who would turn on the U.S.in a minute. The ignorance of the right wing is beyond belief. It’s amazing how much hate the right has, their hate and revenge makes them the same as the terrorist.

Baba, for an atheist you seem to be obsessed with Islam. How can you focus on Islam when your every breath in the USA is dictated by Christianity. If you must vent your frustrations, don’t restrict yourself to one God based religion. Your brain is obviously skewed by a fundamentalist Christian point of view. The American Atheist page looks much more enlightened than your words imply. Atheists normally take a more scientific view of world events and do not focus on any one God based belief.

Before I began learning about other cultures and countries, it was easy to use general terms to describe what I did not know. That was many years ago. I traveled with a multi-cultural, multi-religious group when I was in my late teens (many years ago). It has been important to me to share my understanding with others. My voice was too soft when I was young. I have learned to blog and my voice is a bit louder now. I would like to shout that I have learned NOT to generalize my frustrations into HATRED. Hate destroys the HATER before it harms anyone else. Frustration is an epidemic in this country, too. Many of us are sickened by the terrible acts that are done in the name of America. The acts of a few have infected us all. We are trying to repair the damage. If there is any patience left within your heart, please find it. There are innocents caught up and damaged in your culture, but there are those in our culture trying to turn off the faucet of acid politics.

Back in the old times, or should I say by refering to the Holy Quran, there was an action pertaining to suggestions like this. It happened in 570AD and this was also when the Prophet Muhammad was born. It was dubbed the Elephant Year by the Arabs because of the event that took place in Mecca.

Back then people from all Arabian peninsular was going there and do their pilgrimage there(Ka’bah). And it was not because of Islam. They go there to pay homage to their polytheistic gods like Hubal and etc.

But in Yemen, a great king named Abrahah built himself a great cathedral so that people will flock(pilgrimage) to his kingdom. He was jealous to the popularity of Mecca. One day, his jealousy turned to anger because a Bedouin was pissing in the place.

Therefore in his rage, he built a great army led by an elephant and set off towards Mecca to destroy the very symbol that he really hates, the Ka’bah. The astonishing part about this event is that the Arab tribe that govern Mecca doesn’t try and attack Abrahah. What happened was summed with a famous conversation between the leader of the tribe and the king. Abrahah said,”What do you want?”. Abrahah had taken Abd al-Muttalib’s camels, which he had found grazing as he entered Mecca, so Abd al-Muttalib replied,”I want my camels back.” Abrahah was very surprised and said,”I have come to destroy your Holy Ka’bah, the holy place of your fathers, and you ask me about some camels?” Abd al-Muttalib replied calmly,”The camels belong to me; the Ka’bah belongs to Allah and He will protect it.”

Then he led in his tribe to nearby mountains. The next morning, he prepared to enter the town. He put armor on his elephant and drew up his troops for battle. He intended to destroy the Ka’bah and then return to Yemen. At that moment, however, the elephant knelt down and refused to get up, no matter how much the soldiers tried to get it to move by beating it. But when they turned its face in the direction of Yemen it immediately got up and started off. In fact, it did the same in any other direction, but as soon as they pointed it towards Mecca it knelt down again.

Suddenly, flocks of birds(the bird was called Ababil) appeared from over the sea. Each bird carried three stones as small as peas and they dropped them on Abrahah’s army. The soldiers suddenly fell ill. Even Abrahah was hit by the stones and fled in fear with the rest of his army back to Yemen, where he later died. On seeing their enemy flee the Arabs came down from the mountains to the Ka’bah and gave thanks to Allah.

It was stated in the Holy Quran.

In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Hast thou not seen how thy Lord dealt with the owners of the Elephant?

Did He not bring their stratagem to naught,

And send against them swarms of flying creatures,

Which pelted them with stones of baked clay,

And made them like green crops devoured (by cattle)?

    (Koran cv.1-5)

By referring to this text, it is shown clearly that the Muslims will not be morally reduced because of the structure destruction. They will protect it if they can or otherwise the place has its own guardian. Ultimately, Allah has challenge whoever dares to attack His House and be a witness to their own doom and therefore it is shown that this will also be a true test to the Muslim faith when this happen.

Thank you for sharing that story. The problem with Tancredo and the few who follow him is they do not believe that any other religion has value except Christianity. They will not educate themselves on topics that are not relevant to their narrow thinking.

Fortunately most Americans believe that Tancredo’s statements are crazy and an insult to Muslims.

my friend you have already wrongfully attacked the muslim population centers in iraq, where you are getting your ass beat up everyday.so why dont you live nicely with the rest of the world.

It’s not me who is going to attack anyone, nor is it any American. Tom Tancredo is a republican presidential candidate who will not make it through the primaries.

Statements like attacking Mecca and Medina are just one of the many reasons he will never get elected as US President.

  60. fucking liberal morons. islam has been at war with us for centuries. who do u think was rsponsible for anhillation of Iranian Zoroastrians, Syrian Christians and Baghdadi Jews? What do you think is responsible for the genocide in Darfur? All these ‘fundamentalists’ get their fundamentals from the koran… retards, read up. Or better yet, go smoke some pot. Thats what you commie hippies do best anyway while we save your asses.
Saudi Arabia? our ally? are you fucking stupid or just stoned? Saudi Arabia is the source of all terrorism funding around the world. get some coffee or something.
    And to Ali:
How am I trying to fool anyone dickwad raghead… I am a hindu, who supports jews and am not a believer of your tyrannical cult. How hard is that to understand? Drink some oil or something. Asshole.

Is it possible for you to make your point without typical right wing BS language like “moron, commie, fucking liberal and racist slang”? It appears that every troll that gets on any blog has very limited vocabulary and makes statements that are never backed up with fact. There is absolutely no reason for you to be abuse to the others on this blog. If you have something to say just do it with out being abuse. Although I do realize that bullying is the right wing way of speaking.

To address you statements Saudis is an ally like it or not. All of the 9/11 hijackers were from Egypt.

I doubt you are a Hindu if you were you would be far more evolved in you understanding of the universe around you. You actually sound more like a Christian fundamentalist.

BTW: This blog does not tolerate racism as you have used in your comment towards others. I will not delete you this time. However, your future comments will be deleted if you continue with racist remarks.

  62. you can doubt whatever you want but that doesnt change the truth. I apologize for being racist but before you point a finger at the right, look at your own ideology.
Aren’t you the same experts who told us Hitler could not possibly be crazy enough to attack Russia or Britain? Aren’t you the same “experts” who tried to cover up Mao Tse Tung’s reign of terror in China, or Pol Pot’s genocide in Cambodia? Isn’t this the same “expertise” that assured us in the 1970’s that inflation was good, and could never be accompanied by recession?
Saudi Arabia is a nominal ally, one that America keeps only for the oil. What kind of support has Saudi Arabia given America? In fact, when christians and jews go to that country, they cannot bring their bible, torah or cross with them. This is our ally?
I am a hindu and I understand the universe around me as much as logically possible. However, unlike you people, I can read and deduce logically.I suggest you start with the Koran instead of sloganning against Bush or stuff that you have no control about or understanding of.

Tancredo is nuts. Plain and simple.
But, the fact remains that in almost 90% of world conflicts one or both sides are muslim. Not that it has to do anything with Mecca, it has to do with Islam being used not as religion (as it should be) but as ideology. And religion with ideology makes very bad combo – as seen in thrity year war in Europe back in 17th century or in northern Ireland where two christian denominations were in the middle of what basically was an nationalist struggle. Balkan wars are somewhat similar.

Islamic world feels that is being screwed by West, primarily US.
OK, let’s say that is true.
But, so is Latin America, so is all of Africa, so are many countries in Asia, even some eastern European countries can say that they’re being used and abused by both US and EU.

Still, none of them has reached for religion as fundamentalist political weapon. There are no Venezuelans directing planes into US buildings hoping for reward in afterlife.
And if some part of the world was victim of White House and Pentagon that was Central America.
Is there some sort of Nicaraguan of Salvadorian Al Qaeda hiding in caves somewhere? Nope.
The day when some Filipino or Congoan catholic blows himself up on Times square or at Piccadilly circus screaming -Gloria at excelsis Deo- then it’ll be time to start worrying.

    Very well said. Thank you.

Many American fundamentalist including Bush have mixed religion with ideology, which I believe has led us down our current path of hate and intolerance.

  65. NYTEXAN
Maybe its kinda hard for you to understand.. but despite its somewhat checkered past, Christianity’s basic tenets are very different than that of islam. There is NO comparison between Christian fundamentalists and Islamic fundamentalists because the ‘fundamentals’ of Christianity is one of love and tolerance while Muhammed himself was the most intolerant bigotted murderer the world has seen, save maybe Hitler. If Islam really was a religion of peace, then there would have been atleast some period of time where there was peace under Islam. You will, sadly, find no such thing. If you look into the past, you will absolutely be ready to live under a truly fundamentalist Christian government than its Islamic counterpart, I promise. Is it any surprise that when gays, lesbians from the ‘palestinian’ territories are persecuted, they flee to Israel for their salvation. If a fundamentalist Biblical government was that bad, why would even Arabs be protected in Israel?
Islam is not a religion at all: Muhammed intended to use Allah as a political tool for capturing all of the Arabian peninsula and the same thing is happening even now with the modern muhammeds like Ahmedinijad and Nasrallah. There is no difference in technique between those two modern terrorist and that 7th century ones. Except that the former have AK-47s. Islam’s goal is to replace every constitution of the world with the one that’s based on Sharia. Only myopic people don’t see the obvious progression of events– startting from the silencing of dissent to special accomodations being demanded by muslims to overwhelming the native population with Islamists like what happened in Lebanon whose people, like you did not understand what Islam is.

  66. explanation said

A few things need to be explained, the first is what is Sharia. Sharia is Islamic Law that is based on verses from the Qur’an(Koran), sayings and explanations of the prophet muhmmad (hadith) and past rulings by Muslim scholars and judges. The Sharia covers everything from the rights and responsibilities of the ruler and the ruled, how one should treat his family, employees etc.,hygiene, and various other social, political, and economic topics. Sharia is a very broad term that has been displayed by the media in a narrow context. They have explained it as ‘islamic fundamentalist law’ when in reality it is 1400 years worth of jurisprudence.
Next is that Islam is an Abrahamic faith, so to say that it is a political tool and not a religion, implies that Judaism and Christianity were and are for a similar purpose. Another thing to note is that no Muslim armies have ever entered the United States, Canada, Germany, China, and a whole host of other northern European nations. It is true and i will not deny it that Muslim armies have throughout history been present in many lands but so have Christian armies. May i remind you that the colonization of the world in the last 300 years have been at the hands of Christian nations, espousing the ideas of ‘white man’s burden’ and for ‘God and country’
There were long periods of peace under Islamic rule. Muslim Spain was about 700 years worth of peace, and some of the best scholars of that time period were Jews who were speaking fluent Arabic and hired by kings and governors for their knowledge. During the Reconquest of Spain and the Inquisition many of the Jews opted to leave Spain with the Muslims because they new they would be treated better. Many of the other wars were wars of resistance particularly those against the Mongol armies that came sweeping out of the east. The spread of Islam in the far eastern areas was due to the Mongol conquerors conversion to Islam and the work of Sufis who helped spread Islam in Afghanistan and India through their humanitarian service.
the last thing i would like to say is that radicalization is a reaction to pent up frustrations and increasing attacks from outsiders. Many people who join these groups are ignorant and frustrated with their lot in life. Many of these people are frustrated with their governments because of the like of human rights and economic growth and mobility. Many of these governments are supported by the United States, Saudi, Egypt, Jordan and others. Then when you attack someone’s religion and seem to be adding to their misery by supporting oppressive regimes, these people begin to radicalize and see ‘you’ as the source for their problems. In the end religion was never the real issue, religion was all that was left to them to dull the pain and hold those in power accountable for their actions, yet some have turned religion into politics and perverted the true essence of Islam.
There are 7 million Muslims in America and at least 1.2 billion around the world. Believe me if all 1.2 billion Muslims were on the war against the western world you would know it.
no need for Christians to fear Muslims, we think Jesus will return to earth as well, we just believe that he is not divine.

  67. nytexan said

    explanation:
Thank you for your well thought out explanation. First let me say that I do not follow the Christian religion in any form. I am a firm believer that Christians have created more wars, crusades and death and sadness than any group throughout history. I am also aware of the Jewish Muslim relationship in Spain and again Christians got in the way and destroyed a prosperous and peace time in history.

However, what we see going on in the world today are people who are pitting religions against religions because of frustration (as you pointed out), ignorance of the world around them and fear; which is what Bush has done in Americas through fear and Tom Tancredo is trying to do. However, over half of Americans have become aware of Bush and his tactics and they have dismissed Tancredo as credible.

Regarding Jesus there’s not much if anything that I believe in those stories. But that’s topic is for another day.

  68. musalman said

i totally agree with explanation…islam has never been spread only by sowrds…
in USA no islamic army is residing…but the only religion that is progressing there the most is ISLAM…. so islam spreads and gains its way in people hearts due to its teachings and moralities.
