Creating More Orphans – Leaving Them In Careless Hands

Story from BBC NEWS: US finds neglected Iraqi orphans.
The orphans were found by chance by US soldiers on patrol
Iraqi orphans. Two dozen boys have been found starved and neglected at a government-run orphanage for special needs children in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad. The children were discovered last week by a US military advisory team that was out on patrol with Iraqi soldiers.

The emaciated boys, some near death, were left naked and covered in their own excrement on concrete floors, images broadcast by CBS News showed. The US soldiers found fully stacked kitchen shelves and new clothes nearby. The boys had been kept in the shocking conditions for more than a month despite the orphanage having been staffed, the troops said.

“I saw children that you could see literally every bone in their body that were so skinny, they had no energy to move whatsoever, no expression on their face.”

Staff Sgt. Michael Beale of the Army’s 82nd Airborne Division

This is a tough test for the Iraqi government: How a nation cares for its most vulnerable is one of the most important benchmarks for the health of any society.

There are consequences of war and corruption that seldom make headlines and seldom draw the interest of the general public.   This is why the marketing of war never digs too deep into consequences beyond our own casualties.

I am ashamed to say this but I could not even look at the photos. The destruction that we are doing and the behavior that out presence has created is horrible.

Suzie, You’ll never find these stories on FOX Noise … Where are all the Christians? Most of them only take an interest if they can convert the helpless … just so more acceptable collateral damage. Horrible has a different definition to NEOCONS.
