Taking Texas And The Nation Back

Giuliani and The GOP

Posted by nytexan on February 12, 2007

The GOP has to be kidding if they wind up nominating Rudy Giuliani. When you think back to September 10, 2001 Giuliani was hated by most New Yorkers and unknown to most of the nation. On September 12th he became the hero. The GOP rank and file loved him, but has their base ever embraced him? He touts his 9/11 experience. Give me a break.  How much experience could he have gained in eight plus weeks. The New York mayoral election was held on Nov. 6, 2001 and Bloomberg won.

Rudy is everything the base is not. He is not against the woman’s right to choose. He has been married & divorced with scandals. This is in contrast to their “family values”. Yet he is pulling ahead. They obviously don’t know what he’s about.

Today I think he tipped his hand on how he will distract the GOP, enter Al Gore. Giuliani was asked what he thought of Gore being nominated for ”An Inconvenient Truth,” “Giuliani criticized the film as lacking in solutions”. Maybe Gore doesn’t have a solution, but at least he recognizes that global warming exists. Unlike most of the GOP who are living in denial about it. I’ll give Giuliani credit for at last recognizing that it exists.

I know it was a question to Rudy, but global warming will be among the issues that I think will be on point for the 2008 election. The GOP might just participate in a bit of Gore bashing, to distract from all of their failures and denials.
