Sobering Re-Post From Quaerentia Blog About US Arms Trade

the global arms trade & UN number crunching

Countries of Concern identified by the Foreign Office for human rights abuses = 20
Number of these Countries of Concern to which the UK still exports arms = 19

The Foreign Office list of human rights abusers includes China, Cuba, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, Belarus, Iran, Myanmar, DR Congo, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Turkmenistan (see the official FCO report). Not entirely unexpected – except for the fact that we still sell them arms. Private Eye’s scary stats have spurred me to doing a bit of number crunching of my own. Bit geeky perhaps, and i’m certainly not claiming any authority in commenting on the full significance of it all (most of it is gleaned from Wiki and the CIA World Fact Book – so who knows how reliable it all is).

The lily white USA looks pretty bloody when you see the numbers.  Please check Quaerentia’s entire article.

Official In Charge Of IRAN’s Nuclear Program Resigns Again

Iran: Larijani Tenders His Resignation in Protest

23/05/2007

London, Asharq Al-Awsat- Dr Ali Larijani, secretary of the Supreme National Security Council [SNSC] of Iran and the official in charge of nuclear program, has tendered his resignation for the fifth time in recent months to Supreme Leader [of the Islamic Revolution] Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Iranian sources have said that the resignation is in protest against what he described in his resignation letter as irresponsible behavior and statements by the president of the republic and his colleagues, which have obstructed the course of the negotiations with the European Union and current steps to ward off threats against Iran and its strategic interests.

Iranians seem to be suffering from the same ailment that Americans have. Leadership of the insane! The leaders of the World seems to be suffering from Theocratic Megalomania. Except of course Russia, which is silently sliding back into a dictatorship of the Mafia kind instead of the Communist kind. C’mon folks, don’t we outnumber these guys? America’s 2008 votes will determine whether we slide into their twisted version of Armageddon.

What Happens when Musharraf Falls?

Posted by bosskitty on May 27, 2007

Blogger Qur’an – Bible points out:

Bush wars are not going so well in Afghanistan and Iraq where Talibans has announced to launched nation wide attacks on foreign forces and its local allies. Talibans attacks are killing Canadian and British soldiers almost on daily basis.. Bush’s “war on terror” strong supporter Pervez Musharraf of Pakistan is in deep trouble trying to hang on to power. Pervez Musharraf opposition is rising among the moderate Pakistanis for firing Chief Justice and the religious parties and its supporters are angry because of his constant attacks on civilians in NWFP for “war on terror”.

View on the news from those in the middle of it

Iraq is situation is worst than Afghanistan where hundreds of civilians get killed daily with rising numbers of US troops deaths. The US soldiers deaths may rise sharply as they have now launched offensive attacks against Shiites in Baghdad and Southern Iraq. Dick as usual busy is creating fear by telling the Americans that Al Qaeda wants to kill four million US citizens including children so they have to fight them in Iraq. The majority of ill-informed US citizens will believe Dick Cheney absurd lie and keep their support for war in Iraq. According to reports about 1000 US soldiers died since last year Memorial Day and with the latest strategy adopted by US military to go after Mehdi Army might double or triple the number of US soldiers death on Memorial Day.

Bush regime is blaming Iran for all Iraq violence and try to scare them with their military power with war exercises with its Naval fleet in Persian Gulf to me is looking for more conflicts rather than bringing the peace in Iraq. Lebanon situation is calm for the time being but Bush stupidity will turn into bloody violence again because they will force Sinora government to use force against Al Qaeda inspired group which will be the begining of new war and it will create more problems for US occupation military and Israel.

Bush and Dick who put so much pressure on Pervez Musarraf to strike the tribal areas in fact had weaken his government. Will Pervez Musharraf survive this latest growing opposition I really don’t know have to look deep into Pakistan news.

Can you spell ‘collateral’?  When (and If)  Musharraf falls America will loose the lone  ally that is holding  angry Islamic fundamentalists at bay.   On the other hand, America  cannot seem to hold it’s own angry fundamentalists at bay.   Total chaos will have to be redefined.

When the dam breaks, heaven, hell, nirvana and limbo will have a major housing problem!

Self-fulfilling Prophesy Includes Intelligent Design

Posted by bosskitty on May 27, 2007

Don’t forget that Bush supports ‘Intelligent Design’.  His statements

President Bush invigorated proponents of teaching alternatives to evolution in public schools with remarks saying that schoolchildren should be taught about “intelligent design,” a view of creation that challenges established scientific thinking and promotes the idea that an unseen force is behind the development of humanity.

Republican candidates Tom Tancredo, Sam Brownback, and Mike Huckabee all indicated they did not believe in evolution. Then Duncan Hunter added he believes in creationism.  Even John McCain  reached out to the creationist Discovery Institute recently – has apparently said he supported teaching “Intelligent Design” creationism in science class alongside evolution (although he backed down a little bit).

Our current position in the world has been established by the money hungry, power hungry corporations who use the mantra of cloistered christian fun-duh-mentalists as a front.  War profiteers take the most emotional subjects and blur the lines of motive.  These profiteers use the Armageddon anxiety to justify everything they do – they convince the gullible fun-duh-mentalists that their actions support biblical prophesy.

Hopefully, our nation will recognize the ’self-fulfilling prophesy’ carrot being dangled before their noses is a scam.  If you believe in God, would he or she be happy with his or her creation self-destructing and using his name to justify it?  Turning the USA into a theocracy will be the ultimate WMD.

If we let them take our brains, we are no longer human.

Pursuing Blackwater, KBR, Halliburton, Aegis, and Erinys

Lawsuit in outsourced (Blackwater) U.S. war moves out of court

By Bernd Debusmann, Reuters Special Correspondent

Contracted mercenaries must sign away all their rights when they’re handed the license to kill … sounds like ‘Mission Impossible’ doesn’t it?  Their plight moves away from public scrutiny to back room negotiations.  Who are we REALLY protecting here?  They are Cheney’s thugs!

U.S. Security Contractors Open Fire in Baghdad – Blackwater Employees Were Involved in Two Shooting Incidents in Past Week

Conduct of security firm questioned

Thank you to: Steve Fainaru and Saad al-Izzi , Washington Post Foreign Service,

Employees of Blackwater USA, a private security firm under contract to the State Department, opened fire on the streets of Baghdad twice in two days last week, and one of the incidents provoked a standoff between the security contractors and Iraqi forces

Waxman still pursues private mercenary misbehavior and inflated payments.

Waxman demands answers about why Blackwater USA was paid so much for security work in Iraq — and why, in fact, the North Carolina company was paid at all.

Taxpayers paid exorbitant prices for Blackwater’s services, U.S. Rep. Henry Waxman wrote in a letter to outgoing Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld. Waxman said it wasn’t clear precisely how much taxpayers overpaid because the Army hasn’t provided answers to questions first raised two years ago.

Blackwater’s services were not just pricey, but prohibited, because the Army never authorized Blackwater or any other Halliburton subcontractors to guard convoys or carry weapons. Houston-based Halliburton has been paid at least $16 billion to provide food, lodging and other support for troops in Iraq, and $2.4 billion to work on Iraqi oil infrastructure.

At the lowest level, Blackwater security guards were paid $600 a day. Blackwater added a 36 percent markup, plus overhead costs, and sent the bill to a Kuwaiti company that ordinarily runs hotels, according to the contract.

What you need to know about Blackwater.

I continue to be amazed at the surprised responses I get when discussing Blackwater and other mercenary armies on the payroll of the American taxpayer. Not only do we pay their enormous salaries, but we pay an awful price for their mistakes. We gave a ‘blank check’ to the GOP administration and never paid attention to what they bought with it. Our regular military puts their lives on the line every day for less money and fewer resurces and held to the US Military Code of Justice. Educate yourself on the extent of US outsourcing of the Iraq, Afghanistan and soon to be Iran wars. Both Al Qaeda and the US are doing PROXY wars just like we did in Viet Nam!
