Bush in another defiant move gave a recess appointment for Sam Fox as U.S. Ambassador to Belgium on Wednesday. The very same Swift boat donor, who Bush nominated and then withdrew because Fox wouldn’t be able to pass Senate confirmation.
Bush thumbs his nose at Congress and waits for them to goon there break to appoint the very person he withdrew.
Here are the other recess appointment that went on today:
Carol Waller Pope, of the District of Columbia: Member of the Federal Labor Relations Authority;
Andrew Biggs Deputy Director of Social Security;
Susan E. Dudley, of Virginia: Administrator of the Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs at the Office of Management and Budget.
Obviously everyone Bush pick can’t pass the Senate confirmation.

Richardson $6 million
Dodd $4 million
Biden $3 million
TOTAL $78 million
Republicans

It seems that U.S. Rep. Joe Pitts and two other Republican congressmen met with Syrian President Bassar Assad (Lancaster Online) before Pelosi ever left Washington. I wonder how that slipped Bush’s mind when he was blasting Pelosi publicly about going to Syria.
Bush seems to be afflicted with a condition that never allows him to tell the truth or give a complete story. It seems to me that the more Bush tries to shine a negative light on anything the Democrats do, the more things backfire on him.
I see no problem with Pelosi or anyone else going to Syria to try an open constructive dialogue. The whole idea of talking to non allies is to understand them and to be able to find common ground for progress. A concept lost on our fearless leader. As we all know, Bush will only talk to his friends. He must have very few conversations.
I’m sure the rest of the World is just as sick of Bush stamping his foot and expecting to always get his way, as many of us are.
It would be interesting to see if the major media outlets cover this. Lancaster Online posted the article on April 3, 2007.

It’s a pretty week to have a smile on your face:
All the British sailors are free;
Nancy Pelosi in Syria….and not giving a hoot what Bush and the gang have to say;
Democratic candidates raised more money than the Republicans….priceless;
Bush pissed at everyone for not doing what he says;
Students pelt Karl Rove;
The Supreme Court ruling against “W” on Global Warming;
Harry M. Reid “He is president of the United States, not king of the United States”;
Matthew Dowd.….”I really like him, which is probably why I’m so disappointed in things,” Dowd told the Times. He added: “I think he’s become more, in my view, secluded and bubbled in.” Dowd now calls for a withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq–the position that Democratic nominee John Kerry took in 2004–and wants Bush to reach out to his critics rather than take a “my way or the highway” approach;
Baseball season has arrived (someone tell the Astros);
